agreed. When I hear comments like Hahn's I just scratch my head. My solaris lit 180 is doing phenomenal, sps frags included. It has been up for 10 months now and I am very pleased with the growth in all my corals.

AquariumLED

AquariumLED

Hey FishDude1984,

The AquariumLED is 10000K and mogul socket based but you don't need the ballast. Just a direct connection of a 2 prong plug and you can plug it directly into your standard wall socket. There is no need for a ground prong.

This is 42watt and it does work. I myself have one and actually going to be the West Coast distributor for these new and innovative LEDs. The PAR is not quite as high as a MH but the wattage and the money you save on electricity and cooling cost will be 50% or more. And the corals do grow on these lighting.

Feel free to email me for more info if you'd like.

What are the PAR measurements at surface and depth?

LEDs are there (here). In addition to working, one's heat load on a larger system is dramatically reduced. A little 'buggy', yes! What isn't in this hobby?

my tank's currently in planning stage,so it would be nice to get more information on led's because i'm planning quite large system,so mh's would cost me a lot more in the long run (leds last way way longer than mh's)

How long are the LED's life span?
Do we have to replace them as often as VHO's?

i know solaris systems are claiming 11 years on their bulbs, dont know much about it though.

The OP is talking about the screw in LED light in his links ... 42 watts, marketed with the output of a 175 watt halide. Not a full featured LED lighting system like the solaris.

Personally, Im unimpressed by the par numbers posted by the manufacturer as well as the spread and the video. From published data on par for 175 watt halides/reflectors I dont know where the manufacturer is getting his 175 watt halide data to make similiar par comparisons with this led light.

All just IMO, I personally dont own one and dont plan on it so what do I know.

Just do your research before you buy, just like you should for any any purchase that affects wallet and/or your tank and its inhabitants.

Looks good saltwater creep- any updated pics? Still happy? Also in market for an LED system, though I'm looking at the aquaillumination.

Has sanjay reviews LED tech? I havent seen it, but have looked.
