What's the difference?

Hello,

I'm looking to replace my Vortech with Tunze.

I'd like to have 2 pumps which work together to create alternating flow in my 70. Here are a few questions I have:

1) What is the difference between the 2 multi controllers (7095 / 7096)? I certainly like the price of the 7096, but what do I not get with it that the 7095 offers?

2) What the difference between the Nano stream pumps and the Stream 2 pumps? They seem to put out around the same amount of water but there's a huge price difference.

I just sold my mp40w's and bought 2 6205's and a 7096.

The vortechs had wide flow but are not directional and I need that to get into the middle of my 7' tank. I don't like the look of the wire on the outside of the tank and everytime I bump the pump with the algae magnet I spend the next 2 minutes aligning it to get rid of the chattering.

I get more flow with the 6205's but they do take almost twice the power to run. I choose to sacrifice that.

Now as for the controllers what I have been told is that for the 7095 you pay more for the convience of immediate changes to settings with the buttons and the dials. With the 7096 you have to connect it to a PC to make the changes. From what I was told they both have all the same modes, both are able to pulse with out on/off (ie. 80% 20%), and the 7096 has 1 mode the 7095 doesn't - Storm Mode

I could be wrong and these will be my first Tunze (I have been pronouncing it wrong for years).

If I sold a leg I would have some kick a$$ prosthetics! My first would be a wooden peg leg. I would run through the swap just to hear to sound it makes!

The 7095 is a stand alone controller it has a touch pad and you program it by just pushing buttons and turning knobs. The 7096 has to be connected to a PC by USB for programming, it can do more (storm mode and wavebox mode) and you have more control (4 channels vs 2) and being software based, future upgrades could add more features.

The only controllable nanostream is the 6055, the Controllable Stream 2's are the 6105, 6205 and 6305. Just about every step up is almost a doubling of flow capacity.

The comparable Stream 2 to the MP-40 in flow (gallons per hour) is the 6105, and the wattage of the two is equal with 28W at full power.

Awesome. Since my tank is only 70 gallons I really don't need all the flow of the Stream 2's. Seems like they take up more space?

6055 is about the size of a tennis ball, 6105 is about the size of a softball.
