Between dark skimmate and a lighter colored one? I know everyone says darker is better, but why?

Darker would indicate it's pulling more junk out of the water.

it depent, darker = concentrated.

if you have 100ml light colored it's the same as 10ml dark 10x stronger.

Gotcha! That sounds logical. So if my one skimmer is producing alot of light liquid, while my other is producing less but it is thick and green, both skimmers are doing a good job. (ideally)

And if I adjusted the one skimmer to produce less light liquid to a darker/thicker liquid it should become more concentrated and do the same job, or a better one?

Everone seems to think thicker/darker is better when I read most posts.

i don't think one is necessarily better than the other, they're both doing the job....but wet skimming will lead you to having to monitor your water levels more and the constant need to empty your collection cup..i skim more on the dry side to save me the hassle and to collect a more concentrated skimmate
just my .02

Wet skimmate will also lead to you having a cleaner skimmer neck, which means your skimmer will perform at close to 100% for a much longer period.
