What would be the best clam for me under the current conditions:

100 gal FOWLR

2x175W MH

my water conditions hardly ever differ from:
sg 1.026
cal : 400
alk 4.0 meq/l
nitrates : 2

Im looking for a hardy 1st time clam that wont die from my lack of owning one in the past.

Thanks!

MH is the recommeded lights for clams. A good rule of thumb is the more vibrent color the more intense lighting.

IMO & IME the best clam for the new clam hobbyist is the Tridacna derasa Very hardy clam.

Yes they get big but do not grow like a Tridacna gigas which grows very large and very fast. If you have a 100 gallon, a 3-4" derasa will not out grown your tank in a few years. :)

Ive got plenty of room in the 100 - yet i dont want anything to get massive! Just looking for a colorfull hardy clam that I cant really kill due to lack of lighting. I was hoping that 175's would be enough. Running the hamilton 14K's and really love the color.
