Whats the perfect alkalinity level?

Hi my alk was a little low so been dosing with bcarb soda. its now up to 11dkh. is that to high? whats the perfect level to keep it at. i thought 7-10dkh is about right. i want to keep my alk at a pretty even level so should i keep it at 9dkh? or 8? or 10?

You might want to go to the SPS keepers forum. Randy Homes-Farley has a thread where he's asking that now. He's wondering if anyone is seeing problems with their alk above the 8 - 9 range.
 
I have a tri color acropora that has encrusted very nicely but never really seemed to have a lot of polyp extension. Was keeping the alk. at 8. Decided to move it up to 10 and suddenly started to see green polyps from the tri color acropora!!! Alk related??? I think maybe so!!!
 
Mr. Tang, you should go read the thread. Not everyone, like yourself, are experiencing problems. Seems as if most of the problems are in the upper ranges >11dkh.
