what's this next to my zoo's?

Bought some zoo's, and afterwards found a strange object next to them, at first you could only see it when the zoo's contracted, but it has grown since. It looks like a big chunk of silicon with little holes all over the place, and has several "tubes", kind of like snorkels. No idea what it is.

in the meantime, one thing's for sure, this isn't a coral, right? What do sponges look like?

is it hard to the touch?
if it is, it could be a coral, some type of SPS that was tiny and is now growing it's base.

a very tiny piece of sps may have been on the piece you got without knowing

look at it at night with a flashlight, are there polyps commiing out? then thats what it could be.(sps) it looks like shoots are starting.
