I have had this Haddoni since November of '06.

Old Pic.

He has always looked and acted great. well, over the past few days, he has not looked so great, see pic. Does any one have a idea what is up? Is he on his way out, he has never looked this way before.

He is still VERY sticky and well attached, but a tiny amount of his guts are showing.

He is under 250w xm 20k HQI bulb, the watter conditions are great, all areas are 0 ppm. He is with two other nems, a M. dorensa and a H. Magnifica.

I am going to do a watter change ASAP, but any other info is much appreciated

Thanks,
Aaron

do you feed him silversides. i dont know if this is the culprit but some think it introduces some type of infection.

Chris,
yes I do, I haver never had a problem i the past, but w/ all the bad talk about them, I think I will be feeding other foods from now on.

Thanks,
Any one else have an idea on how to help this nem?

Well...... I think he is dying, his guts are coming out and little bits are floating around the tank. When should I call it. He is not stinky yet. I have removed him from the tank and have him in QT.

Any one???

Thanks,
Aaron

Now :(

Check your water parameters.

I am sooooo confused:confused:

After the day in QT and expelling some nasty looking C@%P, some of which was it's Curly Q guts, he seams to be fine. Mouth is closed tight, tentacles wiggling, he is inflating and looking good and he has attached to the side of the QT container. What the heck.

Could he be having an adverse reaction to the Magnifica I got a bout 3 weeks ago? I sort of doubt it, this has only been happening for the past 3 days.

I will leave him in QT for a few more days to see if he improves or makes a turn for the worse.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

As I told you a while back, it is not wise to place two or more different species of Pacific anemones in that size of a tank. I can almost tell you chemicle warfare is going on in your tank. You bought a H. Magnifica recently and now all of a sudden your Haddoni is floating around the tank looking very close to death? I say it is chemicle warfare. In the long run, if you want to save your Haddoni put him in a different tank or find someone locally that can adequately take care of him.

I use to think I could get away with having more than one different species of anemones in the same tank but I learned my lesson. I lost a very nice blue Haddoni. :(

55semireef,

I think you are right on w/ what you are saying.

I don't know why I could not learn by vicariously from what I have read on this site??? :( Shame on me!

Well he seams to be doing good now that I have taken him out of the main tank and placed him into a tank well a 5 gallon bucket, of his own.

I will find him a new home, Or beg my wife to let me set up a tank in my class room.

Thanks,
Aaron

I cannot believe that people feed whole silversides to their anemones. It is crazy and i have never understood the practice of adding the stomach contents and internal organs of fish that could have been dead for months to a tank that they obsess over water conditions for.
fresh fish flesh, shrimp or squid is what mine get or at the most frozen for a couple of weeks.

55,
Good luck with the new home!

Yea, I don't think it will happen either. another tank that is.

adtravels,

I will never do it again.

CHARLIE AGUILAR,

Lets see how it does for the next few days, he has had a rough one.

Thanks all,
Aaron

I've been feeding mine silversides for two months and it's been growing fast ever since. Although I would never feed one whole silversides all at once. Everyone I know does the same thing without any problems.:)

Well, he has past on. I am very bumbed out about the whole situation, especially since I am to blame.
Thanks for the replies.
