whats with the white slime?

not a newbie but im lost i have had my reef tank up for about 2 years now and i am gettin this white looking slime that seems to be gettin worse and worse its all over 1 of my rocks and its just like swayin in the current i have no clue what it is so anybody have an idea?

slime? hm... I have white stuff ( some sort of sponge) on my rocks but it looks like a very dense spiderweb. Could you post a picture?

is it on the underside of the rocks if so chances are it's a sponge as described above. if it's almost spiderweb like it's probably some type of worm that is "casting" out to catch food particles in the water.
a pic would be very helpful.

i dont have a camara but now today the stuff is gone and I still dont have a clue on what it could be but what you guys said seems to make sense but im still clueless!

hard to say with so many different things that can be described as slime
if it's gone tat quickly it's likely not a sponge.

i know its really hard to explain, It like when you put a new coral in your tank or do a big water change the corals in the tank seem to let out this white ooze its like that but i didnt do a water change or add a coral in the tank in months so im lost hope that helps
