What's with these lights ?

i have been searching for lighting for my tank and i came across these ... . i put one on my tank just to hold me over but that was before i came across this . thought i would use it for my sump well when i build one ... http://lenslights.com/aqualights/innerpages/faq.html#4

I've used those many times. I've grown sps (albeit slowly) with 4 of them over a 65. I use one in my phyto station. And I put one over Glenn's fuge. There are a few tricks to them for long life as the ballast is built into the case vs. on the bulb like the other new type fluoro bulbs. Either run w/o the cover or drill holes in the cover AND casing. It helps w/heat displacement. I've never done the hole drilling method, just ran them w/o covers.

They sell the fixtures and replacement bulbs at home depot. Or they used to.

I bought one from ebay 2 weeks ago, there are still people that have them listed otherwise check on LIghts Of America web site they have them on there as well.

Does that include the bulb?

It should. The new fixtures come with the bulb. They used to cost 30 and the replacement bulb was 13. But that was a few years ago.

They still sell them at HD, and replacement bulbs too. Doc gave me an old fixture he had and it grows chaeto like mad....

they are pretty bright but nothing special

if your frags enjoy 6500 k then it would be great. im half tempted to see what they would do on my 120 just as an experiment 6 on a 120 with 110 vho antinics
