A starved linckia will drop legs or the legs will appear pinched/hollowed out. Guts coming out means there was shock from a rapid swing in parameters-- acclimation shock. There is nothing that can be done for it, I'd remove it before it fouls your water.

I've seen this many times before, just about every sea star shipment had a few linkias that did this. Even after proper and slow drip acclimation.

Evey time this happened they died, usually expelling their organs then melting. If you bought him recently take him back to the store and try to get a refund, because this could be the store's fault. Beautiful star though, it's a bummer that stuff like this happens.

Bummer for first post.
FWIW most stars don't live that long in our tanks anyway, they look pretty but if you get a year or 2 out of them you're lucky.
[welcome]

Linkia's are harlequin shrimp food in our tanks at best nothing more as other's have said they will die quickly most the time and don't last long.

Thanks everyone. This morning i went to take my starfish out and when i lifted him up his stomach (stringy things) fell right off. I threw him away! RIP starfish :(
