What's wrong with my zoas?

My frag of Kedds Reds are closing up but in a weird way. Almost like its pinching the head off. They were fine for weeks. My other zoas are fine.

Those are definitely some unhappy polyps. If they were mine, I'd start a dipping regimen.

What do you dip in? I usually use Lugols but wondering if I'm missing out on something.

I use povidone iodine which is similar to Lugols. I also use Melafix marine. I'll do an iodine dip in a container, then soak / rinse the frag for five or ten minutes in another container, then dip in Melafix, then another soak / rinse, then back in the tank.

Others decent dips include Tropic Pro Marine Coral Cure, Revive and hydrogen peroxide.

Too small of a frag and Solomon zoanthids are tough to begin with! Scrub the algae off with a soft tooth brush and give them some higher flow for a few weeks..blast them with wide flow, that will also keep any FW off of them. I would not worry about stressing them with a dip at present. good luck
