What's wrong with my zoas?

My zoas don't grow in a "tight" patch and all seem to be "stretching " for light regardless of where they are in the tank. This is the case for all my zoas. For the most part they appear to be healthy and have varying rates of growth. What gives zoa experts? I am using a maxspect RZR 180. TIA!

Not familiar with that light, but some zoas are always stretching. Though if they are all doing it, that would indicate the light is not strong enough. are you running it full blast?

I have some Green Dragon Eyes that do this or sometimes push their inner circle outwards sometimes for no reason, other times they are just normal.

Do yours do it all of the time or only part of the time?

I'm using two AI Prime HD's on my 36 gal bowfront.

Mines do this all the time. I posted this on a local forum and got what I thought was a reasonable explanation. For some reasons these particular zoas grew very close to each other and as a result, must necessarily stretch and push each other out of the way to get light. The big question for me, then, is how to prevent this from happening. I am not a big fan of this look versus growing together a in tight short patch. I know the corals are only doing what is natural to them but if I could prevent this somehow, that would be great.
