What's wrong with this green slimer

This coral recently began losing tissue and turning white. It was touching a colony of green star polyps and i'm wondering if that was the problem. I have also recently discovered a crab in my tank that looks unsafe. I have not been able to catch him or get a picture. Maybe he is the problem.

Anyone have an opinion?

To me, that looks like a chemical battle with the GSPs. It will only get worse if you don't move them. But aside from that damaged section, the color and PE on that slimer is pretty poor. Has it only recently lost its green coloring?

Check parameters and make sure you have good flow. And frag those GSP's!!

that is what happens when some acros touch gsp, some zoas, mushrooms.. etc.

you could always interceptor your tank to kill the crab,

what is your alk? that does look a bit pale, a symptom of low alk.

I would move either the green slimer or GSP away from each other. I have some GSPs, but keep them away from my sps.
Recently, my own green slimer made contact with my orange digi and the slimer showed some tissue recession. I moved them away from each other and the slimer has recovered it's lost tissue after several weeks. Your slimer should be able to recover if it is given the chance. Good luck!

My green slimer seems to grow in spurts. It was about an 2 inch frag with 4 branches nine months ago. Today, it is about 5 inches high with about 14 branches. They seem to be very hardy like pretty much everyone says here on RC. I had very bad luck the first year and a half with sps but I did not give up. Finally got an refractometer almost an year ago and upgraded my lighting- now I have over 20 sps colonies!

slimer is a fast growing acro normally right??

You bet, it's the fastest growing acro I have ever seen.

I got 1" frag of green slimer back in feb and the thing hasnt grown in length at all :(. All my other SPS have grown significantly, the slimer has just encrusted ALOT. It now has about a silver dollar size encrusting, and it has gotten thicker, but no new branches/length. Have any of you guys had this happen too? I am just waiting for it to take off but it just hasnt. I have acros only a few inches off the sand bed that have trippled in size...not sure what the deal is with the slimer? :(

If it was touching the GSP's in that location I would guess that is /was your problem.....whenever I had some corals touch the tissue loss was rather localized...but it depends onj how long they were in contact with each other and what the species are.....
