Whats your favorite?

Just having fun
In seeing the other thread I figured Id ask a general question. Whats your favorite part of this hobby. Then jump to the complete opposite end of the spectrum, and whats your least favorite part? Have a little fun with this one.

My favorite part has got to be when setting up a new tank, after you fill it with rock and water, watching to see what new little creatures are gonna come out and entertain you during the cycle period. Its always a fascinating experiance no matter how many times you have seen it.

My least favorite would probably when that darn baseball sized (ok so hes not that big but you get the idea) turbo snail knocks frags off the rockwork and they fall behind everything. You really dont wanna re do all your rockwork so you risk bending your hand into funny positions sticking it in places where you know you saw that damn worm, getting cut up from the sharp rocks.(yeah you know what Im talking about). All to save that 1" peice of unknown acro that you bought during a brown out sale! And in the end you still have to move the rock just to reach it. Yup thats what I hate the most!

My least favorite things are loosing little critters in the tank. One day they are there and the next day they are not. It's a bit frustrating. I also dislike the amount of $$ I spend on my tank (I would be a bit more wealthy if it weren't for this hobby).

However, I think likes totally outweigh the dislikes. I really enjoy finding the little critters that disappear (like the cucumber I had not seen in months just showed up the other day). It's like getting new things all over again! I also like getting my flashlight once the lights have been out for a while and look at all the neat things that come out.

Can't wait to see everyone else's like and dislikes!

Dislikes for me is definately the flooding. without fail, no matter how much i have automated everything, i still manage to flood my carpet from time to time. Also pests, like AEFW, Nudis, sundials, flatworms, eunicid worms, etc.... I hate dipping and i hate bleaching corals.

I do love however being able to grow things out and propagate corals. reading articles showing how in the last few years, the reef hobby has actually helped certain reefs by giving local islanders jobs, stopping them from poaching the reef and creating artificial reefs and breeding things like clams and clowns. I really enjoy seeing my coral grow into colonies, and definately satifies me when i look at some time lapse pictures of my tank to see growth.

I've got to say that it's either designing and setting up a new aquarium or coral propogation. I love to be able to frag things, have them grow, and allow others to enjoy the corals that I've been able to enjoy.

My least favorite part is most likely water changes or water testing. I'm hoping that I'll soon be making the water change portion a thing of the past by setting up a more automated system, but testing will have to be the new low point. I just can't afford all the digital testing equipment that I would like.

Everything else just seems to be the middle ground.

I really figured there would be a lot of you that said water changes were the worst part. Really I don't mind them at all it's generally during that time that I spend the most amount of time doing routine maintenance on the tank. I am way over due tho and it shows by the built up coralline that needs scraped off the front glass.

Favorite - Building the tank/systems, watching colonys grow from frags, overcoming setbacks from occasional pest, algaes, learning new tricks to the trade

Not So Favorite - Wrasse that carpet surf, pumps failing at 11pm, when you know you cant get a replacment until sometime the next day, Maroon clowns biting your hands, salt creep,

time lapse of a period of about a year or so
