Are they bad for your tank other than that they eat clams?? Ive heard thier nothing more than snail like creatures that act like snails but eat clams. Anyone have info?

They are snails, they are not snail like creatures.
They are both gastropods.
"Whelks" is a term that some people use for a large assortment of predatory snails.
Do you have any snails you think are whelks? Post a picture, and we will ID it, and perhaps even give it a nice home if you so desire.

No i want to keep them both. i mistaked them as being Nassarius snails then i looked it up and to a gander at both pics and they were different. Definatlly whelks..... They are not doing any harm. The act like snails though.....
