When corals turn brown and pale?

When corals turn brown and pale do they ever return to there original color? Several of my sps have lost color recently, and I am trying to combat it. The reason for the loss in my opinion is some bad temperature swings like73-80 (long story), and CA, and ALk low, due to me not dosing for a few days while I was studying for block exams.

To combat the problem I recently purchased the RKL + package, and 2 dosers, and I am switching my 2 part the BRS. I will add some Magnesium to my ATO every week to slowly bring it up to 1350. I also purchased a Phosphate reactor and some rowaphos to hopefully lower some phosphates. Just so everyone knows I have a 60 gallon cube with 20 gallon sump, vertex IN-80 skimmer, refugium (cheato and culerpa), and carbon sock filter. I have about 900 GPH flow 1 250 watt XM 20k and 2 actinic plus T5 bulbs. I am hoping that with some better stability and a little cleaner water my SPS will come back. The coral that lost color all have good polyp extension, they just don't look right (either brown or pale, some both). I lowerd some of them the Garf Bonzi coral, and marshall island bottle brush thinking they might do better with less light.

Your on the right track... Yes... Some of my best corals have come from brown frags...

OK I am working on getting my system more stable and have run into some Ca/ ALk questions. I am now using a RKL to dose BRS recipe one. I am seeing the following changes in my ALK/Cal

12-22 KH 5 Ca 360 Mg 1350 ( I know this is bad, except the Mg and probably why my coral turned brown)
12-23 KH 6 Ca 390
12-24 KH 7 Ca 415
12-25 KH 8 Ca 410
12-26 KH 8 Ca 415

My question is that I have been adding about the same amount everyday trying to slowly bring my KH to 10 and my Ca to 435, but it seems that once I hit KH of 8 it stopped wanting to rise with the dose that BRS gives to raise it one KH. Ca stopped rising after it hit 415 3 days ago. Should I be adding more then what it recommended? Sorry for the questions. I thought I understood how to run my Ca/Alk and that I was just being lazy, but apparently I havn't been adding enough either.

Thanks for the help in advance

what are your other params?

any other symptoms in the tank (ie. algae/ diatoms).

What does your livestock load look like?
Are the corals frags, or colonies?

sorry for all the questions, but it seems to me if you cant break the barrier something else may be utilizing ca and alk. I dont believe you need to get your alk to 10 either, my tank hovers around 8.7 and only swings up to 9.1. What concerns me however is you say you can't get calcium over 415 and you are not seeing growth in corals, so what is using up your calcium?
