When Fragging a Chalice do you have to keep at least one Eye on the Frag?

I was just wondering if it would die without any eyes or would it live and grow but never grow any eyes?

To my knowledge it needs at least one full eye.

I've never tried it, but I've heard you don't need an eye. Without an eye though, the growth will be much slower.

This proved to be true in my accidental experience. VERY slow...

Nah it's not imperative to have an eye.

I also mistakenly cut off a section of bubblegum monster with no eyes, it grew about 5 eyes in a month. I tried on another chalice and it hasn't grown anything in 2/3 months
