when is the swap?

well we should still trade stuff! im always down for planning an event! ya it is a little dull here and there, but im sure theres more potentials, its a new school year!

Seem the economy is taking a toll on reefs nationwide, trend is toward FOWLR systems and planted freshwater tanks that need less light and money to run. My trip to LA told the tale, wholesalers with much less corals and a ton more fish then we used to see. I heard about this trend froma friend in california a year ago.

not really everything is rising fast, air freight is almost 3 times what I was paying a year ago. Just paid 250 for 6 boxes from LA to Tucson. Was a tranship so fairly heavy but a year ago that would only have been 100 or so.

It is also cheaper to ship corals, most corals come in with little to no water on tranships, zoanthids and mushrooms usually just a few drops to keep them moist. Fish are a lot heavier to ship.

I WAS TRIPPIN

I WAS TRIPPIN

Rob, I believe everything you just posted. Very true. On my recent vacation through a few states in the midwest I visited alot of Saltwater stores. From small individually owned to places like Inland and Marine Depot. Over 2 months ago now they said the exact same thing you did. Shipping was taking away any profit or the corals would be to extremely priced to sell, and in some areas airlines were removing routes to smaller city airports, causing them to drive longer distances to pick up there shipments. And gas in the midwest is much higher than here in Tucson. Stores here benefit by being near a major airport (somewhat), being close to distribution centers, and gas is historically cheap here in Tucson. That being said, have any exotic fish instock?

I was drueling over 2 Clarion Angels in LA a few weeks back, but at 2200 wholesale it is a big risk even if they are very hardy fish.
