When to add clean up crew?

I've had live rock in my aquarium for about a week and a half. The diatoms already came and went. Now the green hair algae is starting on the glass and rock. When can I start adding clean up crew? I'll get an ammonia test done tonight for more information on the cycle, but I'd like to know generally when and how quickly to add them. Thanks.

Ammonia can kill most anything, so I like to wait at least until I test 0 ammonia before I put snails in.

I agree with Floo.. once there's no ammonia or nitrites throw a few snails in there and see how it goes

That's what I was thinking. I'll do a test tonight to find out where I'm at. For now I guess I'll just do water changes and manually remove as much of the algae as possible. When I get a constant "0" with the ammonia how quick should I add the CUC? Also my tank is a 37 gallon. How much and of what type of CUC would be best?
