when to add clowns?

I am starting a new 90 gallon, and eventually I want to add a mated pair of clowns (percula or ocellaris). I have never had any and I was wondering when I should add the clowns in terms of teritorial behavior.

Let me clarify. I know that my water needs to be fully cycled and my parameters right. What I am wondering is if it is okay to add them as the first fish, or generally is this not a good idea. I know from past experience with other species of damsels that if they are the only fish in there, then they think the whole tank is theres and will fight with any other fish added later.

I am making a FOWLR that may become a reef in a year or so. So I will have a sump and a skimmer. Yes I have a ways to go, but wanted to start my research early.

Also, Percula or Ocellaris? I like the look of the Percula, but seem to remember them being more aggressive. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mav

My perculas were the first i offered to my new tank without any problems. as long as the water is ready there should be no problems. as far as i have come to understand fish in general the larger the fish the larger the immune system

If you want to breed them I would get a tank just for them . Other tank mates can cause them not to spawn , eat the eggs , or cause the clowns to eat the eggs .

I put my true percs in first. They are small enough that they don't map out a huge area of the tank as their territory. Also they are fairly easy to take care of. My WC percula pair has been pretty tame if you ask me. But the order you are adding stuff depends on what else you are going to put into the tank. If the percs are going to be the most aggressive thing in the tank you'll have nothing to worry about.
