when to change rodi filters

From reading the information out there I know i should change the basic filters every 6 mo to 1 yr. is there any way to know when i should change them out? I've read to change the di when tds starts creeping up but what about the others? Do you just change them on a set schedule no matter what or is there some kind of test to determine if they are still good?

probably when the TDS starts going up on them too, although the TDS reading of RO water is not 0 even when the filters are new. idk, i need to change mine too.

All your pre-filters... 6 months like clockwork.

Your DI... every time you start to get a TDS reading in your output.

I forget the RO Membrane life... I believe it is a few years, but am not certain.

sorry, not trying to hijack, but im wondering, if your RO filters are not good, but your DI is, what effect does that have? is the DI filter destroyed? or is it still better than the water going in?

You can exhaust your DI faster (depending on how high the TDS is)... The DI resin should be able to clean up whatever TDS is left over after the RO. I still get a TDS reading of about 12 post RO, then the DI resin cleans up the rest, and I have 0 after the DI,

If you begin burning through DI resins quickly, you can go to a 2 - DI setup to help extend the life of your resins. In that setup you basically have a "sacrificial" DI resin in front of your last DI. You monitor the TDS between these 2, and once you start to see TDS in the line between the 2, you take out the "sacrificial" DI and swap it with the DI that was previously last in line. Then you add your new DI on the end.

Wow... I made that confusing.

(I recently switched to a Spectapure DI resin, and have seen a notable increase in the life of the resin over the DI resin I used to purchase from the filter guys).
