When to plant??

Well my tank is almost ready to be filled up. I am wanting to plant alot of macro- but at which point do I do so? Do I wait until the tank is cycled, or can I plant it when the pumps & lights are on soon after filling? I have a refugium in the sump in which I want to place some mangrove roots. Then in the main tank I was wanting to plant the macros in there. I did not put alot of rock in this tank as I want to have the maximum amt of space for the SH to swim. I have a 60G rectangle tank. Also - I am running a protein skimmer- one that is probably rated much higher for this tank- Would I also want to run a filter as well?

Wait until you've finished cycling to add macro. You probably still want a filter, unless you're using a traditional sump w/ rocks and filter socks, etc. SH are VERY messy eaters, and they poop a lot.

I would definitely let the macro grow a bunch before you add the seahorses so that it can have a lot of time to grow and attach before it gets ripped off by the grasping seahorse tails.
