when to plant

at what point should i stant to get plants for my aquarium? do i wait for it to cycle or not? i tried a plant once but brown algea started to grow on it and it died soon after. why wold this be. thanks

Macros could be introduced anytime. but unless you've used some type of mineral mud in the sand bed I would hold off on adding seagrasses until the sand bed matures a bit, maybe 4 or 5 months minimum.

Do you think adding macro during cycling will speed up the cycling process? With all the high nitrates and such, wouldn't the macro grow faster?

It may help to lower the toxicity during the cycle, but wont speed it up. Its gonna take as long as it takes for all the dead/dying stuff to decompose.

well i was able to find a piece of rack that has some plant life on it, and looks like there may be some zoo's, hope they make it. all at no extra cost.
