When to set trap?

Ok so my strawberry dotty has to go..planning on doing the bottle method with some mysis and pellets..
I know fish are smart so when is the best time to set it? Planning on doing it now it when blues come on or when lights are out..you have any tips for me..
Do I prefill the bottle or place something inside of it to sink it down

do it when everyone is sleeping and use a rock to sink it

thanks for the tip...so first attempt failed..didn't put enough weight to sink it down so just floated away:uhoh3:..I thought I missed a step by not drilling holes..
Will try again as soon as I find a weight for it

So after adding some weight mysis and rods eggs and starving the tank for 6 days and got him..only like 4 min of curiosity and in he went
