When to set up a quarantine tank

Hi
Just got a new tank for the purpose of quarantining (40L). I was going to set it up this weekend, 9th August when I do a water change (and use water from my display tank) with a internal filter and heater. The plan being that I go on hols on the 16th and return on the 24th and will get new fish on the 26th, is this ok or is it too early to set it up.

Any advice is much appreiciated.

Sounds like a plan to me. Some people go completely sterile, bare bottom, large PVC Pipe, for hiding places, and treat copper. This requires daily water changes. Others, like myself, just go with a bio-filter and then observe the new fish for 30 days. If no problems, then they are ready.

I'd recommend an aerator and heater, so it stabilizes while you're gone.
