When will my maroon turn maroon?

I've had my marroon clown for about 3 weeks now. He is dark orange, darker than a percula and about 3 inches long. When will he become larger and darker?

I feed my fish, every other day, sinking pellets, brine shrimp, flakes.

it takes time, Yes, she will grow and darken with age and most likely lost some of her stripes.

has she started digging yet, if not have fun when she does

Uh oh, no digging yet. ?

I can't wait until I upgrade my lighting and get her an anemone! I know she hosted several at the LFS.

My Maroon stayed a beautiful bright red until it turned female.
Its VERY dark now, almost looks black sometimes. Her belly got darker first, then the rest of her.

Seems like the females get darker than the males too.

I do hope that he/she turns maroon. The dark orange looks strange, like she is suppose to be a perc, but the color is off.

whats this digging thing?

haha you'll find out i bet! :D

Mine dident do it for quite awhile!! then.. when my bta started to touch the sand with its tenicles she started digging.

Basicly they stick theyre tail on the sand and swing it back and forth causing sand storms. I had a bit of crushed coral that would get in her way. so she picks it up with her mouth and spits it at me.

She dug all the way thru a deep sand bed until she hit the glass.

I moved not long ago and replaced the sand with finer sand, and the nem doesent touch the sand at all.
Ive only seen her do it 1-2 times in a month.

But when a 'stranger' came over she resumed spitting gravel at him. but not at me right now.....

another thing bugging me is every so often ill see her swim outta no where, take a big bite of star polyps and spit them at me. bugger. I saw a tip of my torch coral floating around the other day too.
Im leaning towards she was just trying to rearrange the tank agian and these two pieces of coral were stuck and she couldent move em... Since my kenya tree was upside down that day too *haha* they seem to really like theyre pad a certain way. and they'll move somthing if need be!

My maroon female is a very rich maroon, almost chocolatey brown while the male is more of a red maroon. Give yours some time and she'll darken up too.

I managed to keep my maroons from trashing the tank with their digging by placing a couple of fungia skeletons where they were digging. Clowns are happy b/c they can easily keep their "patio" clean and I'm happy b/c the sand stays put!
