i have been taken over by monti eating nudi's.. i was looking to purchase Potassium permanganate, but i dont know where to find.. has anyone used this with success? thank you
should i use something else? i dont like messing with anything dangerous... i just hate to lose my monti's.. yes all treatment will be done outside of the tank..
I'm not familiar with the options, so I'll have to leave that to others, but I've not heard of many people presently using permanganate on their corals.
If you can find it locally you will save some money b/c if shipped, you have to pay HAZMAT shipping fees. If you were local I'd give you some. Be careful if you do go this route, I lost a superman monti at the reccomended dosing amount and time. It is rough on the corals. Good luck.
thank you lecher, my superman is the one that started this whole mess, after i moved (900 miles) all the monti's that sat in the same tub are now infected..
Those dang nudibranchs got my supererman monti too! I used potassium permanganate and they were gone for 3 months. Then 2 days go I caught them on my rainbow monti.
Potassium Permanganate is available at Sears or other outlets such as Culligan that sell iron removers for potable water. It is used in conjunction with an iron remover (string or fiber filter) as it is a very strong oxidizer. Oxidized iron is relatively easy to filter out of water. It also often used to remove hydrogen sulfides from well water. Be careful as it will stain anything organic.
