I need to be able to put in on and take it off. Plan on doing this with velcro on the top brace and having it hang on the side of the tank. I need to be able to take it off to clean the tank as I want the illusion of depth on the tank. I thought blue acrylic because it is solid enough. Need a sheet 6' x 30"

Thanks

I've bought a lot of stuff at Regal Plastics right of Page Ave. About 2 miles from Page and 270. It's not cheap though. You might consider like a foam board and paint it. It would be much lighter and MUCH cheaper. Just a thought. Also, I doubt velcro would hold a peice of acrylic that heavy.

a thin piece of acrylic that size wouldnt weigh more than 5 lbs.

Run the velcro the length of the acrylic and over the lip to secure, the weight would be pulling at a 90 degree angle to the velcro teeth, so it should hold without a problem.

Do you know if they have precolored pieces? I dont want to paint it or I would just go to lowes and buy it

They usually have it or they can get it pretty quick but you'll have to buy a 4x8 sheet from them. There is a place in fenton that sells it by the size but I can't think of the name right now.

JBS plastics is cheaper and located off gravois I think...They can get several shades of darker blue in translucent and transparent colors and it's definately available in 1/8" thickness. Another option that could probably be cheapest is to go to Delviesplastics.com- They have it as well and a 4x4 sheet of it is 45 bucks(4x8- $86). They cut to order as well so you could have then cut the exact size you need and they'll send it to you for about the same or a tad less than anyone local....

I used a piece of coroplast for my 10 gallon. it is black but most sign shops have it in a variety of colors. It is light and will wipe off east. Baiscly corogated plastic. Might work in your situation.
