Where did my baby Cucumber come from?

About a month ago I bought a spiny Yellow Cucumber.He moved to the top of one of my rocks and hasn't moved since.I come home today and he's(shes) still there and about two inches away is a smaller I'm guessing baby size cucumber.Anyone know how they reproduce-do they split or something?Kinda freaked me out seeing two of them...lol
