Where I live

I see the areas where most of you guys live through some of your photos. You can see the hillside my apartment faces in most of my sunset pics. You can't see the Alleghney river in them because the banks in my area don't allow it. This was a little up river, where the Kiski River enters the Alleghney River.

A small runoff stream that enters the Alleghney.

Some fun, birds on a barbwire.

That looks like a nice river, do you ever fish it? I checked out the area on Google Earth. It looks like you have some NICE wilderness and hills. I think the shot of the stream is done very well, and good timing with the birds!

IMO the Alleghney isn't the best but people do. We use the Kiski and sometimes the Buffalo Creek. I don't fish much anymore, but everything around here is stocked with trout. There's some good sized big mouth bass in the Alleghney. We had the pros down at The Point a couple years back for a tournament, which was pretty cool.

There are hills everywhere here.

Ah, nature. Trout and bass? I could use my fly rod and my casting gear!

Excellent timing with the swifts. Some casual comments. I want to pop the light edges of the smoke bush some more. Both #1 and #3 feel to me as though they could benefit from taking the left levels curve control and sliding it right a bit.

Thanks for sharing! Your avatar still cracks me up.

Like em'. For some reason especially the last one. Maybe it was because I was chasing a woodpecker a few weeks ago. The one thing I miss about the east coast - (nope, not the humidity) the killer fall colors. Also, like your creek image. The east has some great small and intimate landscape shots that the are more difficult to find in Alaska with it's big vista shots and mountainous terrain. They're here, but the east just has those awesome canopies of trees that really pull you in.

Re: Where I live

I really like this one! I think I have a thing for darker images- the shapes of those blossoms and the colors are great. Nice job on the PP.

Thanks for showing us your homeland!

(hope you don't mind me using it as a desktop background)

Hey Scott thanks. I'm your first post in a year and a half?????

I guess I'll say Welcome to RC anyway.

Jesse, you make me homesick! I sure miss that kind of scenery. I used to spend the summers & long weekends with my grandparents in Randolph NY, in the early 70's. They had some property with a stream running thru it. Dang, that's been a long time ago!
Beautiful pictures & thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories!

Jackie
