Where is EcoTech Headed - Big Picture

I love Ecotech - the brand, the products, the service. They are second to none as far as I'm concerned when it comes to innovation and seamlessly integrating aesthetics and function in our hobby.

Ultimately, I vision ETM as a place where I can buy all of my integral aquarium equipment (circulation and return pumps, heaters, skimmers, ATO, dosing pumps, etc)., all controlled through Reef Link. In fact, I'd love to be able to eventually replace my Apex with Reef Link.

Will this ever be a reality? I am starting to see some stuff come together lately with Ecotech, and I'm excited thinking about the future!

I think you are asking for too much. I am like you and love Ecotech Marine as well. They make great products that work well and are well built, and stand by them with great warranty and customer support.

Having said that, Ecotech Marine does not release products that are not game changers.

I do not think they would release products without significant R&D and testing to ensure that any new products live up to their standard.

I'm sure in the future some of those items you have listed will be released and I think it's safe to assume they are working on some new products as we speak but to release a full line of products such as Heaters, Skimmers, ATO, Dosing Pumps, Controllers, etc would probably be a long ways away.

I'm a huge fan of Ecotech. I would also love to see ETM be a "one stop shop" for the best of the best equipment for our aquariums.

I don't think naterealbig is being all that unrealistic. Given enough time, I could easily see some of this equipment being developed. Ecotech has set the bar very high. I know I was a bit surprised when they realsed their new return pump, Vectra. So I only expect to see even more great things in the future.

What I can imagine--and this is wishful thinking--is that ETM will find a way to integrate some equipment into it's Reef Link wireless functionality. Something like a module that allows wireless control over heater, probes, ATO, etc... Maybe?

If the consumer shows a company that there is demand for a product, the said company usually listens. If we want to see something from Ecotech, we have to show there is a market for it. (Easier said than done, I know)

I love ETM, and I for one am certainly excited about the future of this company! I can't wait to see what the next thing that comes from ETM.

i have to agree with Cdodge as well. Until last week I have never owned an Ecotech product. I bought 2 of the Vectra L1's to use on my closed loop systems and immediately love the products. I am now considering adding 2 mp40qd's to my system and possibly radions to compliment my MH's (will never give those up). I would love to see them come out with a controller.

I think they probably will start to work on or release other products like a doser or controller.
From what I have read, the Vectra will not work with the Apex WXM module. I'm guessing that's partly because Apex is coming out with their own return pump. They also have power heads to compete with Ecotech. I'd be willing to bet these two companies stop playing so nicely with each and start moving into each other's territory..Apex making pumps, powerheads, and maybe lights down the road....Ecotech coming out with a controller and a doser.

Part of the beauty of the way Ecotech has set up their hardware and software, is that they don't need a controller. This is because it's already natively been built into their products. This has been done by leveraging their ReefLink module. All they have to do at this point is apply their wireless technology to the equipment that the hobbyists need.

Ecotech heater? Easy - attach a controller with wireless capability to it, and now it's controlled by ReefLink. PH probe? ATO? Same thing, no?

I guess I need to cool my jets here.... This stuff may not be as easy as I say, but it seems as though it would be the natural progression of things - for me at least. :)

I think ETM should start looking into getting in the dry goods side of the market.

While they have great products and an excellent business model, all their sales are based upon people upgrading or starting a new system.
They lack the constant cash-flow sales of consumable products.
I don't mean that to say that they lack cash, just the constant in and out of purchases for those daily needs.

Can you imagine, ETM putting their name behind a full line of supplements, foods, filtration media, ect. ?
