Where is the best place to buy the Canon XTI?

I've noticed that with my pink watermelon, I cannot fully get the pink color in my shots. Is that due to the limitation of the lens? I wonder if the 100mm macro lens will produce a richer color?

I'll tell you a fun fact about live view. You can have a LIVE HISTOGRAM! This is gold. You need a tripod to really take advantage (of both the live histogram and live view itself) because the dramatically changing light levels in your tank will sway everything around as you make adjustments and move the camera around. Go into live view and hit that INFO button a couple of times. See the bar graph in the top right of your screen? Love.

The 18-55 you have is a better version than the old one. It is still a very basic, bare bones kit lens. I call it training wheels. Once you get your 100 Macro that apparently you have already ordered, you will be a very happy man. Cameras are really cool. My 40D has some really nice features which make life easier on me that the Xsi lacks. They will still take a nearly identical picture though, mine just does it more conveniently. The lenses however separate the men from the boys, and the 100 macro is a very good lens.

Well I Google Imaged pictures of the Xsi...and I'm shocked to say I don't see one. :/ That doesn't make sense though there has to be. I know you have a live histogram option, I just don't know how to get there with a Rebel. Sorry. TO THE MANUAL!

Another question if you don't mind. Is there any place I can order a protective vinyl sheet to cover the 3" lcd?

I don't use one. Their is a very durable and competent piece of plastic already protecting your LCD. In the event it should get a nasty scratch or crack, this plastic is easy and relatively inexpensive to replace. If you want to be safe, go for it but this is one expense I think you can safely dodge. I don't even think about "oh I could scratch my LCD", instead the oil from my nose and finger prints is a much more ominous threat. A quick wipe with a lens cloth, or more conveniently the inside of your shirt, will fix that no problem.

Yeah, I just noticed that it was plastic, lol! For some reason, I thought it was glass. I owe you big time for all your help. If you don't mind answering a few questions when my macro lens comes in (should be here Tue, lol I had to ask for next day shipping) I would really appreciate that. Thanks again.

I'm glad to help and will answer any question you throw at me to the best of my knowledge. Welcome to Club Canon! Just for fun, here are some other lenses that I LOVE and you may want to consider in the future:
10-22 (gives that fish-eye effect, 180 degree field of vision @ 10mm. It is almost TWICE as wide as your current 18mm. The colors, abrasion, and everything else about it is just spectacular with the one exception of its aperture range. Considering the focal range, this is a minor pitfall and I would recommend the lens to anyone using an APS-C sensor camera such as the Xsi or my own beloved 40D. This lens, as well as the 17-55 will not work on the more expensive full frame jobs such as the 5D, or 1D cameras because they are "EF-S" lenses.)
17-55 IS, OR 24-70 (I own this one), OR 24-105 (these will replace your kit lens when your ready) If your going to get the 10-22, I recommend the 24-70. If your not going to get the 10-22, I recommend the 17-55.
70-200 (there are 4 versions, I have the most expensive f/2.8 IS which I absolutely adore to the extreme, but the cheapest of the bunch 70-200 f/4 is still excellent...if you have enough light. The other 3 are progressively better if your willing to pay, and the f/2.8 IS is pretty darn good after the sun goes down. A perfect made in heaven match for the 24-70.)
50 f/1.8 (super cheap but takes an excellent picture, proably the best price to quality ratio lens available from Canon) the 50 f/1.4 is almost 6x more expensive but worth the premium in my opinion (I upgraded to the f/1.4 from the f/1.8)
85 f/1.8
135 f/2

While I am patiently waiting for my macro lens, here is a pic I just took. It's a bit blurry but looks nice to me. I can't wait until my lens shows up tomorrow!

Here's another pic but this time I used MF.

I like it, the exposure seems dead on. Have you been using the histogram? I think the blue tint is a cool effect and this particular image may easily be better for it, but if you ever want to "correct" this, change the image quality to RAW. In digital photo professional use the custom white balance feature to remove the blue tint from the lights!

I didn't use the histogram on this pic but I now understand how to use it. When I use the macro lens, how deep will I be able to shoot pics? For example, my tank is 32" in depth. Am I going to be able to zoom in on a coral that is 30" away from the front glass?

Well its just not measured that way. But think of it like this. You have been shooting at 55mm, 110mm would be "double" the zoom. Set your lens to 50mm, your new 100mm will be "double" this. Now if you add extension tubes, teleconverters, or whatever else, this will all change.

Ok, the lens is here! I hooked it up and it's on a tripod. Any tips? How do I get those real close up shots of polyps?
