where to buy clean-up crew

Hi all,

I've set up a 72-gallon reef and now I need a clean-up crew. I'm also on a budget....

Where should I get my crew? Last time I got them from GARF and they threw in 5 lbs of their "grunge" which really did a good job of establishing my tank and getting amphipods, etc. in there. I think it was about $1 per snail and hermit.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

You may want to see if anybody would want to share the expense of ordering a crew from an online retailer. If you find the right deal you can get alot for the money, but you also end up with a lot of critters.

Well if he goes by one professional in the aquarium rental industry told me he shoulde e getting a good sized crew fo0r starting out.

I was told when the is aout 1 month old to add 1 to 1 1/2 hermits per gallon so about a 100 small hermits would meet those needs for him.

Then at about 3 months he can start adding just about an equal amount of smaller snails.

In the long run with a starting population like this the tank should stay clear and the population will eventuall balance out for the conditions of the tank.
