Where to buy Rotifiers.

Where can I buy Rotifiers? How much do they cost? How do I raise them? Are they better food for fry than baby brine shrimp? If yes, why?

Rotifiers

Rotifiers

They cost $80.00? Thank for the information. I needed to know about why they must be fed to fry before baby brineshrimp, so I got my answer. I'd like to find a closer, and/or cheaper place to buy them. fish stores do not carry them huh?
Is there an alternative to Rotifiers?

Hey thanks for the second link. It took me right to the guts of what I needed to know.
I have a few more questions for you if you do not mind. How long will fry need to eat Rotifiers before they can be switched to baby brineshrimp?
Do I need to set up a Rotifier tank, or can I just keep live cultures until they expire?
I ask the second question because it seems that there is more than a little bit to setting up a Rotifier tank, ie. pH, and temperature.
I am wondering if it would not just be easier to keep buying the food without reproducing it?
In your opinion is it hard to raise Rotifiers?
How would/do you do it? And I might go through these people so please disregard when I said, "I might try someplace else cheaper, and closer." in my post before this one. Thanks.

Your best bet is to buy the book "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. It will explain everything to you. How long they need to take rotifers depends upon what species and how well they are growing to begin with. Usually they can start on bbs after 4-8 days. A lot of people seem to be recommending only a few days on bbs and moving to dead food ASAP.

BTW: the $80 stat up kit will allow you to keep rotifers alive indefinately. You will use them to start a culture. You may also be able to find rotifer cysts which you'd raise just like bbs.

Yes, I think they are a pain to raise also but larvae will not take dead food. Maybe 10 in 400 might survive on dead food. It is very sad to clean up the dead bodies. Easier to have live rotifers.
