Where to get egg crate? HD doesn't have it

I'm looking for some egg crate/lighting diffuser to build a frame for my live rock, and I can't seem to find any. Home Depot told me they no longer carry it. Haven't been able to find any online either. Does anybody have a source for this stuff?

impossible, they carry it. they are a home improvment store. try lowes

Once I asked someone there if they carried it and they said no. But they do. Its used as lighting diffuser, so look in that section.

Yeah look there they told me the same thing.

People at these stores have no freaking clue what eggcrate is. Just look in the section with ceiling panels for drop ceilings and I guarantee you it will be there. When I asked the first time they took me to some rubbermaid thing that carried actual eggs... :lol:

Try asking for "lighting diffuser" specifically. The whole egg thing just confuses people.

I've asked them about "lighting diffuser" and looked in the lighting section. The guy knew what I was talking about, but said they didn't have it. Maybe I'll go back and look in the ceiling panel section.

As weird as this sounds...I asked once where it was..the guy knew it as "egg crate" as well....When he showed me where it was he actually told me he uses it in his freshwater planted tanks....I just found it kinda odd...

go to any home improvement/hardware store and you will have a better than 50% shot at finding it. HD, Lowe's, ACE, Grossman's, Handy Harold's Hammers and Hacksaws, etc.
shouldn't be too hard to find.

Like everyone else said, Home Depot does have it. That's where I got mine. I've also seen it at Lowe's and Ace Hardware stores.
Ask for a flourescent lighting diffuser.

HD has it, and the sad part is the label says eggcrate on it. here is the label.

I went to both Lowes and Home Depot to compare prices. At one store it was with the sheet insulation, while at the other it was by the acrylic area. I don't remember which store was which, but check in those areas. I was told they didn't have it either but they aren't too smart.

Well if MY Home Depot has it, they're hiding it somewhere where it can't be found. I spent several hours this afternoon searching for it at every hardware store in my area. It seems that eggcrate has been supplanted by plastic sheets without holes in them.

On a side note, I can't stand the tone of some of these posters. Smarmy little know-it-alls. No offense to the ones who are here to help.

Today i found the eggcrates in the building matrials isle withe the other light defusser drop down ceailing stuff .

not sure where it would be in HD but at my local lowes they had it with other light diffuser in the Door Section.
