Trying to find exhaust fans for my canopy. prefer 4in because I have a hole saw already somebody help me out

Go to e-bay under home&garden/ pet supplies/ fish, turtles & frogs/ aquariums & bowls/ type in the search reef. This is where I bought my fans they have been up and running for a year no problems. best of luck

go to www.pctoys.com they have the quietest fans I have found but do insist on the pc toys brand it does make a difference, plus they don't just run quieter they are cheaper. I have both the pctoys brand and the vanguard (I think is the company that makes them for them) I like the pc toys brand better can't even hear them run. The name brand is so noisy it is driving me crazy.

mary , WHICH FAN DID YOU GET EXACTLY. I LOOKED AT THEM AND DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO GET. ALSO HOW DO YOU SUPPLY POWER TO THEM SINCE THE ARE PC FANS. HOW MANY DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GET FOR A 220 WITH 3 400W MH

I have 2 of these but they are noisier than the other brand, my other 2 look like the top one on this page http://www.pctoys.com/120.html. But I don't see it. Just call and ask if they have it. They both work very well but I do prefer the pc toys brand. They are made by the same manufacturer.

Why not buy the DC? You can always adapt them to AC. BTW, I have used both types of fans and prefer the DC fans to AC fans any day. The site Mary sent you to has some good fans, the main thing you need to look at when buying fans for a canopy is how many CFMs it will push, this tells you how much air will flow through the fan, the more the better IMO. You will also want to look at how many decibels it is rated for, this tells you how loud it is, the lower the better. I would try to stay around 25 or so.

The only reason I said ac over dc was the fact that I have had a few different customers buy fans not knowing the difference and smoked the dc fans. But just wondering, why spend the extra money and time adapting the dc to ac when you can just plug and play w/ the ac, are there any true advantages?

I ran the AC fans and they were louder, they have alot of winding and they corroded quickly. I like the plastic DC fans they are slimmer and seem to be less subject to corrosion because they are surrounded primarily by plastic and do not have as much winding. I am sure you could probably find AC fans that are more corrosion resistant, but I doubt you will find them at Radio Shack. As far as the cost factor, if I remember correctly, the AC fans I bought at Radio Shack were about $15 to 20 a piece and I could have bought probably three DC fans for the same price online. You can also buy only one adapter and run four fans off of it and you would still have less in the fans than running four AC fans and wiring it to household current. I am fairly sure they do not require as much electricity to run either.

Travis the fans you are looking at are large, you would have to leave the back of your canopy open if you were going to mount those.

I first bought fans from Radio Shack and ended up taking them back and buying the other ones. for half the price because I prefered the plastic fans vs metal fans from Radio Shack.
