Where to get glass pieces?

Go to home depot buy glass and a glass cutter....glass isnt that hard to cut...

The Home Depot near me only sells 3/8" glass which is really thin. Heck, half the glass panels they had on display were broken or cracked.
I ended up looking in the yellow pages for a glass shop and found a place called Aladdin Glass near my house. They custom cut 1/4" glass panels for me and even polished the edges so I wouldn't cut myself while handling them.

Well my sump is made out of 1/4" glass so I figured I'd get the same thickness glass for the baffles to be safe. I actually made a mistake about the home depot glass. It's only 3/16" and not 3/8"
I paid $30 for 3 sheets that were 11X11 1/2" and one sheet that was 14x11 1/2"

Lowe's still cuts glass. I had some mirror cut there last month.
BTW, just a bit of advice (applies to both HD and Lowe's):
Don't take the word of one employee as being store policy....especially near closing time. Let's just say there is a HUGE variation in the quality of service/employees that you run into.

Thicker glass would be cool. Less fragile. I guess it will depend on price difference.
He did ask a few of his coworkers otherwise I'd be less inclined to believe him as well. That would be lame if HD stopped cutting glass though. Seems like it would be an important part of a home improvement store. Especially a large one like HD.

You dont need very thick glass for baffles in a sump cause you will have water on both sides of the glass

I don't think 1/4" glass is overly thick though. My first sump had baffles made of the home depot 3/16" glass and I could hear them shifting and creaking whenever I added or removed a lot of water from the sump. They held out great for 2 years, but the sound still made me nervous every time.

I can't think of one valid reason or advantage to using glass for baffles instead of acrylic (I know the sump is glass but that is irrelevent...you are going to use silicone to bond them with either choice)
Acrylic can be readily purchased at Home Depot, its available in many sizes and thicknesses, easy to cut on a table saw, shaped/sanded/drilled to fit, and once in place you can beat the hell out of it (Lord knows, I have) and they are no worse for the wear!
Now,
Go to HomeDepot, buy a 1/4" thick sheet of hobby-grade acrylic (forget the Lexan or whatever fancy types they have) and put them puppies in today! Let's Go soldier...That's an order!!!
