I've been very happy with the cultures I've gotten from Dan, hence I don't hesitate to recommend him, and he's the only one I'm aware of who has them available and with a price
I got my starts from another source, but mine are "SS" strain, not "S" Strain. Not sure how they're really any different, but I can say they're much smaller than the L-Strain.
MarinaP,
I have been straining my s-strain with a 53um screen. Am i messing up my cultures by straining out only larger individuals?? PC manual states s-strain size in the 150um-220um range why would 53um be to big???
Kevin
My thinking is that by using a 53 you are fishing out larger individual rots, while a lot of cysts and smaller rots pass through. S cysts are not known to hatch well and males do not feed well.
So, in the long run, you might be stripping the culture of reproductive individuals.
If your culture has been going strong, I would not change a thing, though
