Where to get saltwater?

Anyone know where to get 100gallons of saltwater? I have a 900g system I need to do about 100g water changes on Im thinking I need a couple huge containers in the back of my truck and get them filled and pump the water into the system after taking water out. Thanks for the help anyone.

You can have sea water delivered to your house also fwiw.. Your not going to mix your own? Seems like that's going to get pretty expensive. Most Lfs stores have 100g on hand though I'd think.

You can order 400+g white food grade containers (has a metal cage around it) on Craigslist and either have sea water delivered or have enough on hand for what your looking for..

Ok so you suggest getting containers and just have water delivered. I like that idea best. I am in Oakland. What about for topping off? Should I just set up an RODI and container just for that too? Or is using hose water possible?

That's a big no no on the hose water imo, Oakland and most if not all sf bay area water sources have switched to chloramine long ago for sanitization of drinking water. Letting any of that into your tank would be a disaster. I'm not going to say it's not possible to use treated tap water but I will say it's definitely not ideal, especially since your tank is so big more loss when/if it crashes. I would definitely have a separate Container for rodi also.

If your setting up that big of a system your going to go through a lot of water man, I'd think you would need a 200gpd (larger the better if you can afford it) rodi minimum although smaller is the same quality its just going to take forever to fill like a week or so lol.. Fwiw I go through about 15gls of rodi a week just for top off in a humid, coastal climate that's never really hot like where you live.

My guess is pre made water salt or fresh is going to be a major expense for you , I think it's going to be the best economically for you to make your own rodi & salt water for sure, but that's me without any experience in that field just a guess due to not knowing the price of delivered water. That said my guess is a good quality rodi would pay for itself and you would always have the option to make more without relying on someone else. I would contact a Lfs that sells ocean water and ask them where they purchase it from so you can get a quote . I may be way off base on the logics of price delivered in large quantities so take it for what it's worth..

I've read of guys with larger tanks getting Sw delivered to their homes here on rc maybe search RC for it and ask some questions..

Good luck got any pics of this 900g beast? Is it going to be a reef or fish only?
