I went to home depot, lowes, ace hardware and even target today to try and find the 5100k compact flourescents and couldn't find anything. Anyone know a place locally where I can find it? I found it online, but don't want to pay 8 bucks to ship somethng that is 10. Its the light that people use for their fuge.

Not sure why you'd want that low of a kelvin rating (6,700k is usually the lowest useful spectrum for reefs) but you can try the "dayactinic" bulbs from Hellolights; they are on clearance really cheap:

They have a will-call/walkup/pickup in Orange near the 57 frwy and Chapman Avenue

edit:
whoops, I see you want it for a fuge...
then the "lights of America" 65-watt quad bulb is REALLY good for that application.

I was reading Meleev's testing on chaeto growth with the different lights and he had the most success with the 5100k. its just for the marco in the fuge.

haha, i just bought a 6500k light of america light instead. We'll see how it works out. Gonna try it for a couple weeks.

Hey, did you get the white outdoor fixture type like this one:

If so, you won't be dissappointed...and the darn things are $40 at Home Depot as opposed to $12 or so at Walmart. the problem is that they are a seasonal item and hard to find. I'd grab an extra or two at that price if I were you. ;)

I just bought the bulb, and screwed it into the round reflectors I was using for my old setup. it uses 25 watts and says it produces the same amount of light as a 100 watt bulb. My previous bulb was 2700k and I couldn't see any visible growth after a week and a half.

Hey Kevin,
Are those Quiet One pumps??? Do you have any problems with them NOT starting back-up after they lost power or you shut them down???

Yes, they are QuietOne 6000 pumps. I've had them for about 2 years now with absolutely no problems. I shut them down all the time during water changes and have never had a problem restarting. I have a third/same pump on my mixing/transfer barrel for quicky change-out if I ever have a problem. they are a great work-horse pump for a cheap price...and are submersible too.

Drsfostersmith.com has them on sale for only $87.99....that is an awesome deal!
