Where to locally buy a plastic clamp for plumbing?

I’m trying to find a plastic clamp or a substitute for one for my fish tank. I have a Aqua C Remora Pro skimmer that is powered by a Mag 3. The plastic piping connecting the two keeps wanting to separate because gravity. I need a plastic clamp to secure the tubing onto the male connection of the skimmer. I’ve called Home Depot but they don’t carry anything plastic and I don’t know if stainless steel will work. Does anyone have any idea where I could locally buy a plastic clamp or have any ideas on how to fix this problem? The size of the hose is either 3/4" or 1". Thank you for your time.

i would go for the stainless steel because it should not be incontact with water and will not rust if water does get dripped on it.

The way the skimmer is setup, the clamp will be submerged under water. I just don’t want any metals to leak into the system. I’m not sure if that is going to happen but I wouldn’t have to worry about that with plastic.

i've looked for them all over - hd, lowes, and osh. no luck if you find some let me know since i need 1 too.

I've used plastic versions of a hose clamp but I think a stronger version is found in the stores selling drip watering supplies, to help hold those hoses on the connectors.

They are like the ones found at http://www.mcmaster.com

Does anyone know if the stainless steel will leech into the tank's water?

I wanted a local store because I don't want to buy a package of 100 connections online or have a order of $.22. :) I think the zip ties might be a good suggestion. I'm also thinking of using super glue to bond the piping with the male connection.

Electrical department of HD, Lowe's, OSH, and many others. For this application you'll need some with a strap that is about 3/16" to 1/4" wide.

I’m going to purchase some nylon zip ties from Home Depot. They come in a package of more than what I need. If anyone needs some just PM me.

some Ace Hardware stores have the plastic clamps. I think the one next to the MARS meeting site has them. If not, zip tie it. Do not use the SS clamp. They are not 100% SS and will rust over time.

I bought the zip ties and they seem to be working well. They apply the proper amount of pressure without the risk of breaking the plastic it is applying pressure to. Thanks for all the help.

Could you have hard plumbed this? Isn't the input to the skimmer body a threaded fit? I had this issue with a Mag and an AquaC EV (not Remora) and it was easier to just go thread-slip adapter and then glue the slip connections.

I've had horrible luck getting zip ties to work. Maybe I'm just not strong enough. :lol

Your right the skimmer's male connection has a threaded fit. The plastic piping just loosened in time though and I wasn't sure if I wanted to permanently glue the plastic piping to the skimmer. The zip ties have worked well so far. We'll see in the long run though.

I don't think you would need to permanently glue anything to a Remora skimmer. If you have a threaded skimmer and a threaded pump you can go teflon tape and threaded fittings the whole way.
