where to place receeding chalice frag?

I picked up a small red chalice frag last week and it has been slowly receeding. I had it on my sandbed in moderate flow. I moved it to slightly higher flow and it is still slowly receeding. Should I be placing it in very low flow?

typically low to moderate flow. check magnesium levels, might be too low. I've had them receed as well and my mag levels dropped to 1100 range.

Yeah I need to heck my Mag. Was hoping I would be able to sustain mag with weekly water changes.

I was using 2 part and am now adding kalkwasser through my top off. All this chemistry stuff is becoming more and more of a pain. Worse thing is my friend who is also in this hobby doesn't add anything to his tank, does a water change once a month if he's lucky and doesn't have half the issues I do. And yes he also has a mixed reef like me.
