I just got two 6100's and have set them up in my tank, a 96x30x36. I screwed the drivers onto the wall next to the tank but I'm not sure what to do with the circular transformers (if that's what they are called). Because my power outlet is high on the wall, the cord from the transformers cannot reach it if they are just sitting on the ground.
Right now, the transformers are just sitting on a chair that raises them high enough so they can be plugged in but here are my permanent options.
1. Leave them on the ground and plug into a power strip that will then plug into the wall. I can easily get a power strip with a long enough cord. However, I have noticed the transformers seem to get a little warm and they would be sitting on carpet. Makes me a little nervous plus curious child fingers might mess with them.
2. Nail the transformers into the wall close to the power outlet. I've noticed there is a hole in the middle of each transformer. Would there be an issue driving a nail through the hole into the wall. It would probably have to be a fairly long nail. The transformers would just sit on the nail and would not actually have to be touching the drywall.
Is there any issue doing #2? (other than the nail being pulled out and ripping the power cord out of the outlet).
