Which camera is best?

I have not yet purchased one, but I am definetly getting one. I want a camera for our fish tank and to take pictures of our german shepard. Which one is better? The canon EOS digital rebel XT 8 megapixel or nikon 6.1 megapixel camera? What are things to look for in a digital camera?

I have an XT and LOVE it. I dont mind the size of the camera. Go to the local camera store and hold each camera and get the one that feels best. Both will give you GREAT pictures and will most likely be MUCH more camera than you are used to.

On another note, the XT has a mail in rebate of $100.

You could do this battle till days end... I'm a Nikon guy... can't beat 'em.

Here's an image from the D70 with the kit lens, I challenge the Cannon owners to bump this to a new level ... if you can
