Which circulation setup - Ocean motion, sea swirl, or tunze?

I am setting up a 120G BB mixed tank, and need some advice on how to setup water circulation (thanks everyone again for your advice on skimmer). The return pump will only flow about 1000GPH. I am thinking about either go with close loop with OM 4 way or two 1" sea swirls, or no close loop but with two Tunze 6000 with multi-controller (I hate to think about the cost of this one:(). What's your opinion on these choices? How much flow I should have for a mixed tank? Any one has one of these setup for sale for a good price?:)

I just got a set of Tunze 6000's and they are great. I thought my seio 2600 was big flow.. NOPE!. I think any of those are good options, but I would go with either tunzes or the closed loop with OM valve.

Mike, sorry I probably did not make it clear. If I go with OM or sea swirl, I will put in another close loop pump to drive it, and wondering how big of a close loop pump I should use.

Ah gotcha. Yeah it's a matter of how clean you want your tank, tunzes are some bad mammer jammers and I've seen nothing but great results from those who use them but then again it's a big honkin powerhead in the tank, and they're expensive as all hell.

The problem with closed loops is for more flow you need larger pumps and as such comes more noise and energy.

If I had money to burn I'd go with one of those Vortech pumps and a closed loop with an OM or something. But I don't have money to burn so wouldn't go that route ;)

I read on Icecap RC forum that a lot of people are having problems with Vortech(cracked case, spinning body, ...), and it is expensive like hell. That is why I did not mention it here.

Well, they are trying to get help from EcoTech representatives on Icecap forum. EcoTech customer support seems to be very impressive though.

to me it's a matter of energy use. tunze are very energy efficient, although it has a big upfront cost. I would find a pump that I would use for your close-loop and then do a cost analysis vs a tunze setup.

but if you don't care about the electricity bill that much, then OM 4-way will keep the look inside the tank cleaner.

My vote's for the Tunze's (I'd even say go up to 6100's) with the 7095 controller

Pros: most energy efficient option, no leak potential (pump seals, plumbing, etc), highest degree of in tank turnover, quietest and coolest option since it doesn't require an external pump.

Cons: upfront cost (although a good pump and an OM will also cost $$$), and maybe aesthetics, although realistically, they do disappear after a while as they covered with coralline, etc.

Just my $0.02 :D

Yeah I have a M2600, although it doesn't push much water but I think that's because the magnet itside is cracked (hence it makes the magnet less strong), just haven't gotten around to ordering a new magnet impeller.

Nobody likes using Oceanmotion systems

I do and a lot of other people like it too.. Is there a reason why you say that??

Opps forgot the ?? mark at the end of the sentence (edited it now) :) It was a question not a statement. The reason I said it was that no one has mentioned it yet and I am thinking of buying one soon.

Ok just noticed it :hammer:. How do you like the unit, do you get a good wave effect from it? How is the flow loss?
