which color plexiglass for backdrop light transmission?

Id say the only suck part of having this background, is the fact that I have to keep the front back and sided free of coraline and alge, which is 3 times more work than I use to. I only use to keep the front clear.

Ryan,
that looks great. Wish I had seen your thread when I was researching shadowboxes for my own project.
I think yours turned out great.
(Interesting how different people can run into the same thing while on the same path:
like the plexi being too blue and missing that green hue, etc.)

where do you see water with a green hue in tropical areas?

I'm curious, why did you bother to share this opinion years after I finished this project and considered it a complete success?
I did not dig this thread up somebody else did. I just replied and offered my opinion based on what looks good to me and what does not. There was nothing personal or mean about my post at all.

Not only that, but the same day you posted this, hours earlier, somebody else (ScarabRa) posted beautiful images of this concept in action, then you post it won't look good?
A tank with a blue background is not pleasing to me. I don't like the way the look. One person's thing of beuaty is another persons ugly, and that holds true for just about anything we look at.

I can attest that it does not diminish the color of the corals. ScarabRa's images are the very definition of "Deep blue feel". Maybe a tad bright...
To you, but not to me. I don't like they way the look in photos or in person :)

I had to do some photoshop to adjust mine to how it looks in person.
Maybe on your monitor... but each of us sees something different based on many factors (monitor settings, software settings, etc).

It is nothing personal or a rip on your work, you did a fine job. If it pleases you then that is all that matters. If it pleases others and they wish to do the same, then that is a bonus. Not all of us have the same opinion of what looks good, or natural.
