Snails only. My crabs always eventually took out my snails even with extra empty shells around and me overfeeding the tank.

I had a mix but Im going to snails only.

Hermits either kill each other, or hunt down my snails ... and I find snails work harder.

I just think hermits are neat and they have never killed any of my snails and I have a good amount of hermits but lots of extra shells

Hermits are fun to watch, no doubt about that. I keep a mix but when the hermits do damage and get caught in the act, they go to The Tank Of Shame in the laundry room. That's a tank that was supposed to be for emergencies but has turned out to be a catch-all. There are snails that got too big, a rescue cowrie and a comb jelly. Today I added a crab hitchhiker that arrived. A little fuzzy looking guy, so tiny and harmless looking but why take a chance. Eventually all the hermits will transferred I suppose, and I'll be snails only.

A mix, but definitely more snails than crabs in a tank.

IME, one scarlet hermit to every 25-30 gallons has served me well over the years.

I like the mix. Helps if I over feed in my nanos. I keep stomatellas snails in the tank and either the hermits leave them alone or they breed to fast for me to notice.

I like a mix. Scarlet reef and dwarf blue seem to be the least aggressive. I had a zebra hermit once. He was very active and fun to watch but he loved killing snails and having an occasional zoa snack. He had to go.
