Canon 40D gripped (though.. really ich to upgrade to 7D, 5D or 5D II), canon 17~55mm f2.8 IS,
sigma 50mm f1.4, canon 85mm f1.8, and canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens
also Manfrotto tripod to take coral pics

nikon d5000 love it......35mm prime lens mostly.... i mostly liked it cause it fit my hands, the canon t1i/xsi were uncomfortable

I get this question a lot. There's a sticky in the photography forum worth reading.

Basically, what it comes down to is the fact that there is no such thing as a "bad" DSLR. Every camera on the market will take excellent pictures when used properly.

Pick a price range and go to the store. Handle every camera in that range. Click through the menus, play with the controls, really get the feel for them.

Buy the one that feels most intuitive.
