Which goby species is this? DD got the name wrong!

I bought these from DD as Amblyeleotris callopareia, but they most definitely got the name wrong.

This is the real Amblyeleotris callopareia:

A short time later DD listed another pair as Amblyeleotris diagonalis (Diagonal Bar Prawn Goby):

That name is also incorrect as this is the real Amblyeleotris diagonalis:

The closest match I could find is Amblyeleotris latifasciata:

You sure have yourself a pretty rare goby. I haven't seen yours over the past 10 years and I am a fan of goby.

For what it's worth, goby taxonomy is kind of messy, and many species have regional variants that look quite different.

Either way, nice fish, whatever they are!

I think you have the most likely id in A latifasciata. It's very similar to one a had under that name a few years ago. Very nice species and got quite big.
