i think it is due to too much lighting

Most certainly not! lol.

Due to excess nutrients and low flow, combination for disaster.

As far as inverts, I've never heard or seen one that ate that stuff. The best you can hope for is something like a conch or nassarius snail that will just tunnel or plow through it, leaving a path of clear sand.

You'll never get rid of it through buying something for the tank (unless it's red slime remover stuff), you'll have to correct what is causing it (low flow and excess nutrients)

+1 for the strombus conch they do eat it i have also witnessed emerald crabs eat it as well but i strongly believe one should solve the problem through nutrient export first!

My locally caught hermits were eating mine as soon as I put them in the tank, they also cleaned up the detritus which was part of the problem to begin with, but I dont think they are reef safe.

for some odd reason I am getting red slime in one local area of the tank- The rest of the tank is doing fine. I have tried to put more flow in that area and also cut the photo period down by two hours-lets see if that helps!!!

+2 for strombus gigas. They graze it. Still need to check phosphate and nitrate and reduce if indicated.. Clean detritus, limit feeding ,rinse food, skim, run gac etc to minimize it.

That is, in my opinion, most likely embedded phosphate in the rock you used at that location.
